Even before the second verse of Black Sabbath's "War Pigs", the tomatoes were flying. More than a thousand toga-clad civilians gathered around a reflecting pool at the site of the 1939 World's Fair in Queens, NY, to take part in a naumachia -- a staged Roman-style naval battle. As part of his residency with the Queens Museum, artist and event coordinator Duke Riley spent five months building the boats only to have them decimated within minutes of battle. His project was called Those About To Die Salute You.
