I was featured on Verve Photo today. The majority of my favorite upcoming documentary photographers have been featured on the site. I’m honored to be among them.

My old rule of thumb was that if I was too busy working to update my portfolio site, then it wasn’t necessary. But at some point it just becomes necessary.
New site coming soon…

Back in June, I spent a week in Austin, TX photographing a group of folks that make up the bands Pure X, Sleep ∞ Over, and Silent Diane. Sam Hockley-Smith wrote the article called Austin, Texas: The City That Always Sleeps in The FADER. Immersing myself in their scene made it one of the most enjoyable assignments all year.

A campaign I shot for Adidas’s Fall 2011 Denim collection has launched. We shot the Crystal Cave in Pennsylvania back in the summer. Having the cave to ourselves after hours was quite an experience.
Last week I got a preview of the new 9/11 Memorial while on a shoot with Professor Simon Schama for the Financial Times. Mr. Schama wrote a piece weighing the success of memorials that ended up on the front of this weekend’s Life & Arts section. And I photographed for a slideshow.
It’s been a busy summer and I apologize for not updating the news section. I’ve been trying to work a redesign of this site all summer but life has been getting in the way. It will happen sooner or later.
I just wanted to share an interview I did with The Image, Desconstructed, a blog about photographers’ creative process. It was a good chance to reflect on how and why I shoot the way I do.
In the beginning of February, I flew to Dheli and Mumbai to shoot a lookbook for Nike. We focused on two cricket players from the Indian National team — batter Virat Kholi and bowler Zaheer Kahn. It was an incredible experience and I look forward to going back. The resulting images ended up in 130 page lookbook. Here are a few of my favorite spreads.
This month marks two years of working with the Wall Street Journal. They’ve been my most consistent client and are responsible for much of my development as a photojournalist. Every WSJ assignment is a new opportunity to explore the different facets of life in and around my community. I’m very grateful for that. Here are some stories I worked on recently.

Last week I photographed Jane Pratt for The Daily. Pratt was the founder of magazines like Sassy and Jane in the ’90s. Now she has a new website called xojane.com. Here’s the article from The Daily.
Fresh off the plane from London, I went to Philadelphia to photograph hip-hop phenomenon Lil’ B for The Daily, the new iPad-only newspaper. My photo made the section front as seen below. And the article about homosexuality in hip-hop is here.
