After a ten hour car ride and missing tent poles, festival goers wake for party.
In the dead of August and deep in the sticks of Whitneyville, Maine, an annual festival attracts skateboarders from all over the country. Informally known as Robstock, the festival has been growing for the last six years. After a few days of swimming, skating and campfire antics, the final night culminates with a heavy metal show and best trick contest. The skaters ride the ramp until it's inevitably soaked with beer or blood. The night continues into chaotic oblivion. For a sport that's so tied to the urban environment, Robstock provides these skaters a chance to rough it and live free, like the heart of skateboarding embodies. |
